I get a message saying "Game disconnected: Client closed down connection. Check your network connection and make sure that port 3659 (UDP) is open" when I try joining. Help?

Firstly - Make sure whatever firewall programs you have are allowing Cod2_mp.exe. (You may need to 'whitelist' it or 'add allowed program' or something like that. It depends on what firewall/security software you have running.)

If that doesn't help, Google how to open and forward ports on your particular brand of router. (Your router's manual will probably also have instructions for this.)

Basically, the problem is either:

A.) You're running security software that is blocking UDP-coms on that port (which CoD2 needs to use).

B.) Your security software is blocking the Cod2_mp.exe from doing any internet comms.

C.) The router itself is blocking incoming/outgoing traffic on comms port 3659.

D.) You're behind a corporate firewall which blocks all UDP traffic, or specific port ranges known to be used by popular games. (Trying to play at the office?)

E.) Some combination of the above.

Hope this helps. Give another shout if you get stuck trying to resolve it. (listing what security software you are running and the brand of your router) Smile
