Not having much luck. Whenever I attempt an install, I get this alert. Any theories what could be causing this?

Sounds like your direct x files could've been corrupted.

The link above explains what an access violation is and what causes i

You may have to put in a ticket to MS and see what they say.

On their website, Call of Duty 2 IS supported by Windows 10(Click View More Versions), BUT! only the patched versions. 1.0 isn't compatible. That may have something to do with your previous problem. I honestly don't know tho.

Thanks for the info Stunt. Yeah, i have seen the compatibility section and took that into account. For some reason, i have suspected it as a DX issue but can't zero in on it. Again, thanks for the help here bud!

Good news. Somehow it seems to be working. I booted into "No Driver Signing" Mode. Installed from a bootleg single disc DVD version using my own CD Key, and installed the latest version of DX 9.0c. I did not get a single error and all files are in place. It seems to run multiplayer okay but the graphics are kinda grainy and "jumpy". I was not able to get my custom refresh rate of 120hz to work but that's okay i guess. This has taken my 3 weeks and at least 30 install attempts. Two system fuck ups that required clean windows 10 installs and countless other problems. So I am OCD and like to tweak things until they work, i can't help it. I learned to build my own computers by "smoking" a few processors...oh well that's how we learn, right? Thanks for the help here, it really benefited the adventure.

It looks okay, but i just don't feel comfortable running a "fix it" utility unless it comes from MS.

well, just took the plunge. got tired of the Microsoft nagging. installed it on my wife's pc first. she wanted to try it so why not let her be the guinea pig. she likes it so I thought i'd give it a try. upgrade went smooth and so far no problems.

Finally got the pop-up in my taskbar to upgrade to 10!!!!

Click it to see what's up, run's a compatibility thing and comes back with, "This PC can't run Windows 10".

Curious, I click why. My cpu is not supported lol. My i7 4770K is not supported. Oh well, wasn't going to upgrade anyway Razz

Um that's BS. My CPU is i7 4770k. Upgraded 100%. You'll want to upgrade. Seriously. It's the greatest OS I've ever been graced to use.
