I've been out of the gaming world for a while, but my graphics card is on its last leg and in desperate need of updating. Any suggestions of new cars under $400 would be great. Radeon or Geforce is all i have ever used but i am up for anything. Thanks for the input.

$400 is a lot...mine blew a couple months back and I found this at a local best buy.

$400 will get you anything short of absolute top of the line stuff. GTX 970 and R9 380 are both between 200 and 350 dollars.

I've got a GTX 970, and I love it. I don't overclock, so I can't speak to its capabilities in that regard, but I can max out everything I've tried to play (except for the hair physics in Witcher 3 - those are frickin' demanding). Tempted to SLI another one...

Do it, especially if you have or can afford to get a 1440p/ultrawide/4K monitor.  Two 970s perform better than a 980Ti in most cases, which is top dog right now.  Or you can wait for the Pascal cards which are supposed to come out this year.  Rumor is they are going to be roughly 50% better than the 900 series.

My set up (excuse the potato quality)

The left monitor is a 1080p 144Hz (for games like CoD) and the right one is a 1440p LG ultrawide which is really nice for games like Witcher and even CoD because of the wider view.

I'm working on the monitor upgrade, so maybe once I've accomplished that, another GPU can be in my sights. I'll probably stick with the 970, and hopefully it'll get cheaper with the new releases.

GTX970 would be nice one. I'm still rocking a 770 :P

-Baker- Don't buy http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA3XW3268397&cm_re=asus_vc278q-p-_-24-236-345-_-Product if by chance you           are looking at them. I got 2 and they have a screen flaw about 3/4 the size of a dime, in the exact same spot. One is refurbished and one is new. RMA? Nah, I can live with it, plus wouldn't have a monitor for that time lol.

-Nightmare- Correct me if I'm wrong, but is that a G502 and a G510 I see?

Why yes it is.

My monitor on the left - 144Hz is buttery smooth especially in FPS games.
My monitor on the right - Mmm, more screen space.

Noted! The one that's currently at the top of my list is the Dell S2716DG. It'll be a bit before I have that kind of cash to drop, so my research will continue in the meantime.

That's a pretty good one.  The ROG Swift is pretty good too, but a bit pricier.
